Key House 1992

This work is a study of nature and the effects and attributes it is given by the amazing light of Key West. This painting is split into two compositional pieces. One half holds to ,a strict geometric composition of squares and rectangles accompanied with a motif of ostinato, circular gingerbread lattice work. The other half carries through with circular, colorful lace-like foliage. It is this special 'key light' that almost obliterates any color with the support beams, railings and lattice work while creating the separation of color in the foliage. The artist was so intrigued with this 'key light' that he moved to Key West where he continued his study of its effects on nature throughout his paintings.
