How to stimulate your creativity?!!

Creativity, I suppose, is the ability of the brain to collect and use information to create your own individual, unique and special ‘thing’, whether it’s a poem, a painting, music, a film, a dish, an idea or a dream. If you are a creative person then you are a free person! Someone who is not afraid to be themselves, to defend their own way of thinking. To accept others and let them think the way they want to.

‘Freedom is independence of the compulsory will of another; and in so far as it can coexist with the freedom of all according to a universal law, it is the one sole original, inborn right belonging to every man in virtue of his humanity’.

Opinion of others, problems and difficulties are part of our life. Try to accept their existence, don’t act like they are not around, take them serious and solve them one by one, because fear and worries caused by these problems will reduce the creative process.

To stay creative and not to lose confidence in yourself, in what you do and how good you are doing it, you really have to believe in your abilities to create. But do not compare it with the capacity of the other artists! Just follow your special way! Make yourself happy, use positive emotions!

Like the Dalai Lama said:

“Identify what things lead to happiness and what factors to suffering. If you’ve done this, start to eliminate gradually something that causes suffering and cultivate the things that lead to happiness.”

Nevertheless, from my experience, I found out that not enough sleep can lead to losing the desire and pleasure to create. Habitual stress and time pressure are probably the biggest ‘imagination killers’, while short-term stress can actually stimulate your creativity.

Have you ever had a feeling that you want to run away, to be somewhere else, to just disappear? This is probably because you are morally exhausted and need some rest by changing place. If I feel this way I get into my car and I drive. It doesn’t matter where to, even just to go have some coffee in the restaurant of the nearby garden&flower center, to visit my friends, to go to the cinema alone or to go for a short vacation. The brain, as well as the entire body, needs rest. After physical training, mental activity (reading, drawing, solving word puzzles, playing chess, etc.) brings relaxation to the body, while physical exercise will provide relaxation after intensive intellectual and psychological activity. I’ve noticed that as long as I am sitting at my painting desk I find it difficult to concentrate on my drawings. After sitting five hours without changing a position I will not only feel some significant pain in my back or legs but I will also lose the ability to mix colors. I’ll get dark and dirty tones. So then I understand and accept the fact that my body and my creative mind need a good walk.
What about you? How long have you been sitting at the computer now? Look around you, look at the walls, try to observe thethings that surround you from another angle. Imagine things created by shadows, lines or stains on the floor. Stay creative!!!
